Forest collects logs, metrics and analytics events from devices you ship, and gives you one place to query them.

Forest is remote log, telemetry and analytics ingest for client devices — desktop apps, embedded fleets, mobile installs, anything running somewhere you do not control.

A project is your tenant. It holds the credentials that may write to it, the custom fields you declare, and the events themselves. Devices never hold a project credential directly: your own backend does, and mints each device a short-lived token from it.

  • Authentication — credentials, minting tokens, and scoping what each one may do.
  • Live tail — streaming records as they arrive.

Sending data

import { forest } from "@xeonr/forest";

const log = forest({ token, endpoint: "https://forest.prod.wtf" });
log.info("checkout completed", { plan: "pro" });

Records are batched and flushed for you. Custom fields you have not declared in the console are dropped and counted rather than rejected, so shipping a new field from a device release never turns into an ingest outage — declare it when you are ready and it starts being stored and filterable.
